I'm a college math professor with almost 25 years in the classroom, and I teach the way I wish more of my own material had been taught to me — starting from where a student actually is, not where a syllabus assumes they are. Most of the students I work with aren't missing effort; they're missing the one explanation that makes a topic finally click, and that's what I try to find for each person I tutor.
Outside the classroom, I bring the same patience I use lecturing to a college class into every one-on-one session — whether that's prepping for the SAT, catching up in Algebra, or working through Calculus II.
